About
Eui Kim | Senior Art Director in Chicagoland
Rice Paper and Liquid Crystal computer screens. I want to talk about how these two mediums are connected within me and how they help define who I am as an Art Director.
Growing up in South Korea, I studied fine art, with an emphasis on Asian Brush Painting. Through this traditional art form, I developed an artistic discipline and a deep understanding of aesthetic beauty and balance.
From that foundation, I went on to build an advertising career after moving to America and receiving a graphic design degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Through my experience working in advertising, I have found that the same principles of balance and harmony that exist on my rice paper translate perfectly to the graphic designs on my computer screen – now flowing through the more practical channels of modern marketing.
This balance of traditional and modern, yin and yang, East and West, exist within me. It has given me the rare ability to see a deeper grace and beauty in things and also apply this to the pragmatic building of brands.
I’m proud to be part of a professional community that allows me to feed my passion and I’m excited to bring my unique sensibilities and solutions to future projects.
And that is the Qi (life-force) of Eui.
